I feel the need...

...to buy this album. I loved his last single, Grace Kelly. I find myself turning the volume up on the stereo in the car every time this comes on.

Groove away chickadees!

One of many

I have so many bits and pieces to add to this blog at the moment. I've been really slack lately and I can't believe it's been over a month since I last added a post. No excuses really, just a general lack of mojo. *sigh*
So here goes, one of many to come.

Fathers' Day

As you will all know, Sunday was Fathers' Day. A day for telling Dad how much we love him and celebrating everything wonderful about those men in our lives. I'm determined to avoid the hype and hooha associated with the commercialisation of Fathers' Day dispite the absolute barrage of catalogues that made their way into my house over the past few weeks. It's Andrew's favourite time of year, all the junk mail is just for him to drool over and dream about which 'toy' he would like the children to give him. I think he was genuinely disappointed that his many hints relating to an enormous Plasma screen TV that stared out from the pages of the Harvey Norman catalogue fell on deaf ears. I think it will be a while before the kids' pocket money will be enough to cover a $10,000 television.

Max and Jemima both made a special present for Daddy when they were at Occassional Care. It was a lovely poster with a photograph of them, a handprint and a little poem about Father's Day. They were hung on the wall in the dining room all day, now they're in the study, taking pride of place above the computer. Max made a door hanger and some chocolate chip cookies for Daddy, it was a miracle the cookies made it until sunday really, I kept finding Max trying to peel open the parcel because he was hungry.

I made a book for Andrew celebrating his role as a Dad. I filled it with lots of journalling and photos of him and the children. It's something he can take overseas when he is travelling for work and remember how much we love and miss him.

The kids wore special tops with 'My Dad Rocks' emblazoned on the front, Max thought they were ace. I gave Andrew some much needed t-shirts, including this one...it's his favourite he says...
After we'd given Andrew our presents we sat down to a cooked breakfast, just as he requested. It was YUM!

Stay tuned...

I am actually updating my blog today! Are you amazed? I am!

Just for fun while I fluff around adding posts, take this little Quiz...

My not so little Girl

I really don't know where the time has gone. Jemima just seems so much older than 20 months, her tantrums are certainly reminiscent of the Terrible Twos! Her language skills are more advanced than Max's were at the same age, her vocabulary is constantly increasing and she just makes us laugh all the time. Her latest fad is sitting up at the table with Max and playing games, doing puzzles and the always popular Fuzzy Felt.

Chopsticks and Noodles

Whenever we have Asian food, Andrew uses chopsticks. He's actually quite good at using them and when he was in China for the past month, the locals were quite impressed with his ability.

Max has decided to emulate Daddy's prowess with chopsticks and last night when we had stir-fry for dinner, he refused to eat with a fork. It was chopsticks or nothing. We do have children's chopsticks but they weren't good enough apparently. So Max ate his dinner last night with regular old chopsticks, or should I say chopSTICK, it was easier to use just the one stick.

The fun of dressing up!

It was Dress-Up week at Kinder this week and there was only one rule... NO Super Heroes or Action Figures. *sigh* All Max wanted to be was Batman, or Superman, or a Transformer ( Lord knows how I would have made a Transformer costume!) The staff had organised the special days as a fundraiser for a local family whose son has Leukaemia and because Max goes to Kinder 2 mornings a week, we could dress up twice. Nobody said we had to choose 2 costumes but Max decided that he needed to be 2 different things, just to make it harder for Mummy.

I managed to convince Max that he would make a fabulous Bumble Bee and Dinosaur and thankfully he was pretty excited on both mornings. Here is the result.

We need to remember...

We need to remember to put the Nutella and the left over pancakes away after breakfast as soon as we leave the table. Otherwise, somebody who shall remain nameless, will decide to help herself. Apparently dipping pancakes directly into to the jar is rather delicious.

She's a chocoholic just like her Mama.
