Day Twenty One

Here's a sneaky peek of my classes at the shop in September.

I'll add more details to the shop blog later on.

Day Twenty

Ahh.....saturday night. I worked today and I've been busy finishing some class projects for the shop since I got home. Now I just need to write up the class descriptions and take some photos of them to add to the blog and newsletter and my work is done. YAY. Nothing very interesting to post tonight. I can't believe I've actually done this daily post thingy for 20 days so far. Phew.

Seeing as it's saturday night and I have nothing much to say really, I'll add this little gem.

Hope you're having a great weekend xx

Day Nineteen

Whoever said that girls aren't messy has never met my Jemima.

Day Eighteen

Too tired to post anything exciting. I had a day of relief teaching at Haileybury today and then I taught a class at The Scrapbook Scene tonight. My brain is fried.

I'll take some photos of the kidlets tomorrow and blog about something a little more interesting.

Day Seventeen

So what kind of cookie are you? I've discovered I'm a Chocolate Chip Cookie which considering they're my favourite in any shape or form was quite funny.

You Are a Chocolate Chip Cookie
Traditional and conservative, most people find you comforting.
You're friendly and easy to get to know. This makes you very popular - without even trying!

Day Sixteen

Just a layout to share. Nothing very exciting. I'm working on a few projects at the moment and hopefully I can share them in the next day or so.

Day Fifteen

Dr. Snoopy
Jemima went see Dr. Snoopy today and she was thrilled. Dr. Snoopy is our GP, although his real name isn't Dr. Snoopy. The kids call him that because on his desk is a huge collection of little Snoopy toys that they are allowed to play with while they're there. Dr. Snoopy also likes to wear funny hats at certain times of the year and the kids think that's fabulous. I love the fact that the kids are so comfortable with him and that they aren't nervous or apprehensive about visits to the doctor.
Now I just need to find a Dentist that can do the same thing.

Day Fourteen

Dani has this on her Blog so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food at all so this should be interesting. Some of things I had to Google because I had absolutely NO idea what the hell they were!

The Omnivore’s Hundred is an eclectic and entirely subjective list of 100 items that Andrew Wheeler, co-author of the British food blog Very Good Taste, thinks every omnivore should try at least once in his life.

He offered this list as the starting point for a game, along the following rules:
1. Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2. Bold all the items you’ve eaten. **
3. Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.**
4. Optional extra: post a comment on Very Good Taste, linking to your results.

** I've put the things I've eaten in green and the things I will never ever eat in red.

Day Thirteen

Well they do say 13 is an unlucky number...

Interesting day at work today. I arrived to find some workmen covering our windows with aluminium sheeting and lots of broken glass everywhere. At first I thought we had broken in to or vandalised and my stomach was in knots as I walked up to the door. The workmen told me that a car had crashed through the front of the shop at about 5.30am. Apparently a drunk driver had lost control coming around the corner and jumped up onto the footpath, taken out a parking sign and landed backwards in our front window. We don't have an after hours contact number on our window so the Police had organised for the workmen to come and secure the building. I had to ring Janet and let her know what was going on and it was a phonecall she didn't need this morning. Five minutes before I rang, her sister had rung to say their Mum had fallen and broken her hip and was on her way to hospital. Not a great morning for Janet.

Luckily the damage was contained to the windows and door frame and nobody was hurt. We'll have to write off a little bit of stock that was damaged but considering how serious it could have been, we got off very lightly. I'm just thankful that the driver only hit our shop and not some innocent driver or pedestrian. Apparently she is well known to police in the area and they have her in custody. The insurance company is organising someone to come and do the cleanup and handle the repairs so hopefully things will be back to normal in no time.

We still managed to remain open all day and run 2 classes as well. I had a class with 6 eleven year old girls for a birthday party this afternoon. The girls each made a mini-book and filled it with photos, flowers, bling, ribbon and lots of paper cut-outs. They had a fabulous time.
So how was your Saturday?

Day Twelve

We have a new baby at work. We've just started up a blog to make it easier to show customers what's going on. It's taken me ages to work out how to set the silly thing up with WordPress and even had to rope Drew in to writing some HTML because I couldn't work out how to do things. Finally it's up and running. I'll take some photos of my classes tomorrow and add them to the blog as well as any new products that have come in.

Sure is mighty quiet around here ...

"... a tumbleweed blowing across a scene can be used to indicate a deserted location or to emphasize an awkward silence "

Day Ten

There is much excitement in our house
We're awaiting the arrival of the Queen!

Our new bed is arriving today and we can't wait! We've been sleeping on a mattress that is waaaay past is comfort date and today is the day we push it out the front door never to return. Drew and I have had too many broken night's sleep and suffered through backache every morning for months. We finally bit the bullet so to speak and went in search of a new bed, but not just any bed, a bigger much more comfortable bed. For 17 years we have been sleeping on a double and by the time you add 2 kids to the mix it's been mighty squishy. Today we experience the wide open space of a Queen! While we would love the splash out for the luxurious spaciousness of a King, if we ever actually want to be able to get into our bedroom again, let alone actually open the cupboards again or have bedside tables, we must settle for her majesty.

I have a new woollen underlay, a new King sized doona and new bedlinen all waiting patiently for a royal audience. I can't wait for a blissful night's sleep tonight. Wish us luck.

PS ... The Queen is here and she is fabulous.

We are very pleased

Day Nine

My name is Sharon and I am a Stampaholic.

I've been trying to sort out my scrapping stuff to make it easier for me to get more done. I bought some Stamp Keepers from BlueBazaar in their sale last week and they arrived today. I spent about an hour tonight putting my stamps into their new home and discovered I couldn't fit them all in. I need to buy more! Some of the stamps ( make that lots of them) I haven't even used yet but hopefully this will kick me in the butt to use them.

Day Eight

I've been watching some of the Olympic events tonight and my favourite had to be the Men's Roman Rings final. I can't believe how much strength and control these guys have. I can't even hang off the doorframe without my arms burning with pain and they can hold the most amazing positions with such ease. Well it sure looks easy from where I'm sitting ... which is firmly on the couch.

Day Seven

Snot Monsters!

Sunday night easy dinner at our house. Chicken sausages, carrots, cheese and bacon mash and a smidge of avocado. What more could kids want?

Saturday, 16 August 2008

Day Six

Kirsty and Ayesha are having a sleepover tonight. Kirsty and I are going to do some artsy-fartsy stuff once the kids are in bed. We got this range in at work yesterday and I've bought some so I can play with it. I'll let you know when I've finished.

Day Five

I do love a good Blogsurf, as you can tell by the number of links on my sidebar. One of the Blogs I love to pop in to every now and then is The Pioneer Woman. I love her style of writing and she always has something funny to say. She's also a wicked cook and I am partial to food, surprisingly. I'm also partial to food that is fun. I love planning what to cook for the kids birthday parties and it never ceases to amaze me what people can do with simple ingredients.

I love this idea. I can't wait to try it for one of Jemima's birthday parties, or maybe just the next time the girls come over.

Turn these

Into this

You can get full instructions on The Pioneer Woman, here.

Day Four

I know kids are supposed to grow but sometimes I wish they wouldn't, well not quite so quickly anyway. This applies not only to Max who is about to embark on the school journey, but to Miss Puddleduck. I just cleaned out her drawers after buying a few new bits and pieces and the amount of clothing I had to pack away because it was too small was ridiculous. At the beginning of the year she was wearing size 3, now I'm buying size 5 and she isn't 3 until November! The difference between girls size 5 and a boys size 5 can be enormous though. No wonder women have issues with body image and clothing sizes. Missy is also wearing size 9 shoes and I fear she will be in 10's before too long. I just need her to slow down a bit so she can actually wear something out before she outgrows it.

Day Three

I came across this fabulously funny clip this morning while I was blog surfing. I love it!

Things you don't say to your wife

... and Max wanted me to add this one from him. I have no idea where he gets his sense of humour from, honestly.

Day Two

A little bit of scrapping to share. These are a few of the layouts I've done for work over the past 2 weeks. The photo in the first layout is by Clair Bremner. She took some fabulous photos of all of us in June. I'm really looking forward to doing more layouts with her work.

Day One

I'm seeking inspiration and motivation, mainly in my daily life but also in terms of artsy fartsy scrapbooking/quilting life too. I think it's the time of year that seems to sap all my energy and creativity. It's freezing here, it's wet, I've had a cold for over a week and it's starting to annoy me! I have a million ideas in my head for things I want to do but I lack the motivation to actually get things done. Things fall out of my linen cupboard and hit me on the head every time I open the door, but have I cleaned out the cupboard and reorganised things? No. I have hundreds of dollars of scrapbooking materials here and a notebook full of ideas and plans but have I sat down and completed anything that wasn't work related lately? No. I have all the fabric for Jemima's quilt here, washed, ironed and ready to go, but as you can guess, I haven't started it yet. I've had the fabric since January!!!!!!

So, this little blog challenge I've issued myself is an attempt to break out of the cycle.

I've also decided to start Jemima's quilt on thursday while the kids are kinder/occassional care and hopefully have the top finished by the end of the day so that I can then start quilting it while I watch telly at night.

I've booked in for this workshop in the hopes of giving me the inspiration I need.

The linen cupboard will probably just have to wait. I'm very good at procrastinating.

Blogathon

I really need to kickstart myself back into Blogging again and by that I mean blogging regularly and much more often. I often 'write' posts in my head but they never quite make it onscreen and I need to change that. It's funny how I pop into other people's blogs every few days and get disappointed when I don't see something new, and yet I neglect my own blog.

So I am issuing myself a challenge. For then next 30 days I will make a blog entry every day. It might only be some scrapping to share or a snippet of daily life, but there will be something new on this blog every day starting tomorrow.

Now ... off to think about tomorrow's post.
